Ute Vergin | UV Keramik

“I create usable art—functional ceramics, too nice, hopefully, to hide in a cupboard. Clay is my canvas: I hand-brush all of my glazes into ’scapes’ of bold colors, often mixed with metallics and bits of glass. My ceramics are food, dishwasher and microwave safe.

“As a functional potter I like to challenge myself to alter ‘ordinary’ forms—cylinders that become mugs, tumblers or vases, and bowls of various shapes—with cutouts, added elements or texture to become artistic forms that retain their functionality.

“My passion for art is lifelong. I’ve worked as a graphic designer for 25+ years, and photography was a hobby long before I discovered ceramics.

“I have a home studio in Corvallis and welcome guests by appointment. Please call me at 541.602.5297 if you’d like to see my ceramics and where they’re made.

“I’m a member of the TEAL Artists Coop, Gallery Calapooia, the Willamette Ceramics Guild and the Corvallis Art Guild, and I show and sell my work at their galleries or events in Corvallis. I participate in art markets, festivals and events in the Willamette Valley throughout the year. My ceramics are also available at The Arts Center gift shop in Corvallis, Janky Bird in Brownsville, Bush Barn in Salem, Currents Gallery in McMinville, and the First Alternative Coop North Store in Corvallis.
