Portable Shelving for Sale

I talked with Jesse Jones a couple of weeks about him wanting to sell his shelving that he bought from Doug Hively. He sent me the following information and photos. The Guild could buy these shelves if we vote to do so or any individual or individuals could purchase them from Jesse. His email is: jessejones79@gmail.com;
Attached are some pics of the ladder shelving I have for sale. I have
also attached the catalog page for price reference. The line has been
discontinued, but there are some parts still available. I paid Doug
Hively $675 for the set in November of 2005 and would be looking to
get the same for it now. Here is a list of what I have:
(26) Regular Speed Braces (New price 6.71/pair)
(16) Regular Cross Members (New price 6.71/pair)
(16) 65″ Ladders ($28.20 each)
(6) 44″ ladders ($19.96 each)
(5) 75″ ladders ($32.58 each)
(52) Regular Standard Shelves ($19.53 each)
(4) Custom 1′ X 6′ 11-ply plywood shelves that work with the ladder system
This is enough shelving to fill 2 10′ X 10′ booths or the large side
room at the MU Holiday sale. It is very light, easy to set up, easy
to store and is in really good shape ( a little dusty).
To buy this shelving now (if not discontinued) would be almost $2000.
Pass this on to anyone who might be interested.
Thanks,
Jesse

Group Sales

Willamette Ceramics Guild (WCG) Group Sales
The WCG provides the opportunity for members in good standing to sell their art at community events as part of a cooperative effort. These cooperative efforts allow members to show and sell their work without the need to have the amount of work or the canopies required to have a booth independently. Group sales provide members the opportunity to display their work in the community and to learn how to promote and sell their art in a professional manner.
WCG group sales provide income for the guild (from percentages of sales), which is used to support community and guild activities and to purchase items and equipment for guild use (canopies, packing materials, etc.). The sales allow the guild to promote ceramics in the community through clay demonstrations and educating patrons about ceramics.
Requirements/Guidelines for Group Sales
All group sale participants must be a member in good standing. Dues should be paid on or before January 1st of each year and before signing up for a group sale.
Participants need to sign up with the show organizer no later than two weeks before the show date.
Participants need to work as many shifts as needed according to the booth coordinator for each sale. The number of shifts will vary depending on the length of the sale (1 or 2 days) and how many WCG members participate in the sale.
Participate in setting up the booth, which includes helping to get items from the Art Center basement (pedestals, canopies, wrapping materials, etc.), bringing or helping others bring display furniture for the booth, and helping to set up the canopies and display furniture, and arranging your pieces in the booth.
It is great to see the increase in sale participation. To allow all members the chance to sell, we are limiting the amount of work to be displayed to two folding bookshelves or the equivalent in table space or wall space. This is approximately 12 square feet. Back stock and the restocking of your work is encouraged. Storage space is typically limited, so bring a reasonable amount of backstock. Label your backstock container with your last name and phone number.
Participants need to have their work displayed, priced and completely ready to go before the sales event begins. Each piece needs to be clearly labeled with removable stickers. Each sticker should include your last name and price in dollar increments only.
Be flexible with how the booth is arranged and where your pieces are displayed.
Make a good faith effort to participate fully in the operation of the booth. If you are unable to fulfill any of your obligations, please be considerate enough to communicate with the sale coordinator as soon as possible so adjustments can be made.
Unless it is your scheduled time to work a shift, make an attempt to stay out of the booth so customers have room to shop.
Do not remove your work from the booth until the sale ends.
Participate in tearing down the booth, which includes packing up your own pieces, help take down the canopies, returning items to the Art Center basement, helping load display furniture into cars. Please stay until all chores are done and everyone is ready to leave.
Pottery broken by patrons or other WCG members will not be reimbursed by WCG. We all accept the risk of breakage as a part of selling our work in a group sale.
Suggestions for Harmony with our Community Sales Efforts
Keep in mind that we have lots of different personalities, opinions and degrees of experience, but we have one common goal in mind when putting together a sales event.
We suggest that each group sale participant purchase and bring one set of folding bookshelves to display their work on. This will spread the responsibility of providing shelving among the whole group instead of a few individuals. Those individuals with only a few items to display may want to go in together on a bookshelf. Many members are currently using the lightly stained, stackable, folding book shelves purchased from Bi-Mart. They are easy to assemble and tie together.

Updated WordPress Software

I have updated our WordPress blog software to the latest available. This will not effect our actual blog site. Those of you that have worked with Wordpress will notice the change in “Dashboard”. It will look a little different than the old one. I don’t like change much but the new software does work better. It provides more options to upload files (such as our newsletter) off of newer computers.
The basics of Posts, Pages, and Comments are the same as we have learned.
Have fun and keep adding all those nice pictures and text.
